Education Is The Best Interest - 1331 Words

â€Å"An investment in knowledge pays the best interest.† These are the words of Benjamin Franklin, one of the founding fathers of the United States who had many professions all of which relied on the importance of education. In today’s society, education is one of the most important aspects of daily life, especially if education extends beyond high school. While colleges can be remarkably expensive, higher education is one acquisition you can’t afford not to take. We live in a world where we depend on higher education to allow us to be content with our lives. Yet, so many people in our society are content with taking the easy way out and not pursing higher education. To better understand our education fixation about our knowledge†¦show more content†¦However, to make a significant change in your future, career, or even your happiness, your best bet is to obtain a college degree. The U.S Department of Education reported on the online National Center for Education Statistics that between 2002 and 2012, undergraduate enrollment rose 24 percent overall (Education, Fast Facts). A larger percentage of people are coming to realize the importance of furthering their education through various ways. Many people start with a two year degree at a technical school and earn their associate’s degree. Most career paths require more than only two years of schooling so most people attend a four year university to earn their bachelor’s degree and maybe go on to achieve a master’s degree, or even a professional or doctoral degree. Higher education even comes in all forms and one of the most popular is online schooling. An individual can now earn a degree without even stepping out of his or her home. According to the online U.S News and World Report Education on January 9, 2013, more than 6.7 million students took at least one online course through a university during the fall of 2011 (Sheehy). After taking some notes on what a higher education consists of, we can now study and review why we need and can benefit from higher education. Pursuing a higher education is vital in everyday life today and could help determine how successful an individual can be. The benefits of

Natural Language Processing And Machine Learning Techniques

The manuscript at hand presents a framework that implements Natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning techniques to extract synthesis parameters of metal oxides from a large set of published articles. The manuscript also presents insights into the key synthesis parameters using machine learning algorithms. NLP technique is of broad and current interest in many research areas and it is being extensively used to extract information on a large scale, which is otherwise not feasible via manual exploration. In the field of chemistry/materials, NLP holds immense promise to extract useful information the literature, such as extraction of materials properties, processes, and various synthesis details. However, NLP has not been†¦show more content†¦I believe the current manuscript holds the merit to be published in a high-quality journal, and my recommendation is to accept the manuscript to be published in Chemistry of Materials. The authors may want to address the following list of minor issues to further improve the manuscript: 1. Logistic regression classifier is applied to distinguish paragraphs that are related to synthesis from other non-synthesis related paragraphs. Applying logistic regression to classify the paragraphs is an elegant way to determine the synthesis details, however, it might have errors in the classification (95% accuracy in the current manuscript). A simpler way to classify would be to search for section titles like ‘Methods’, ‘Materials’, ‘Methods and materials’, etc., and then classify the text in this section as synthesis paragraphs. It will be worth considering this approach and comparing it with the logistic regression approach. However, the former technique might not work if the search paper is a review article. 2. From the description presented in the manuscript, it appears that the data is extracted from the paragraphs. However, there are articles where the information is presented in the form of tables/figures. A discussion on the scope of data extraction from tables/figures would be of significant interest to the chemistry community as large amount of chemical/materials data is published in this format. 3. International Business

Question: Discuss about theInternational Business. Answer: Introduction: Walmarts business activities are determined by the organizational structure of the company. The organizational structure of the company helps the organization to solve its business related problems in an efficient manner. In accordance with Walmart, the organizational structure depicts the way in which people will react to the challenges at the workplace. However, in the long history of Walmart, it is growing and flourishing at both national as well as international aspects (Epstein and Buhovac 2014). This is because of the organizational structure and culture of Walmart that have helped the organization to achieve competitive advantage and success as well. Discussion: The organizational structure functions hierarchically and the main features of this structure are hierarchy and function based definition. This feature of hierarchy is associated with the vertical lines of command as well as the authority across the organizational structure. In order to provide a suitable example, it can be said that only except the Chief Executive Officer, each employee of the organization has a superior (Terpstra, et al. 2012). The line managers down to the regular staff of the Walmart stores implement directions and orders coming from the top management level of Walmart. On the contrary, the feature of function-based definition of Walmart involves employees in a group for serving certain purposes of the company. Walmart currently has a separate department for managing the human resources, another department for dealing with the information technology related issues as well as other departments for the functioning of technology (Albers et al. 2013). These are one o f those departments among numerous function based other departments. The most crucial effects of the hierarchical organizational structure of Walmart is that, it enables the managers of the organization to influence the complete organization very easily. Therefore, in this way Walmart achieves a distinguishingly effective monitoring and control mechanism. The main difficulties associated with this organizational structure are that it provides organizational flexibility as low as possible. Walmarts organizational culture is amalgamates four main components and these components affect the behavior of the employees. These components are, Service to clients, respect for the persons, striving for superiority and acting with honesty. Now, as Walmart is willing to enter the Chinese market it is quite evident that this organizational structure is ideal for the company for operating globally. On the contrary, should improve its beliefs in the context of its organizational culture. Though these beliefs are ideal for the company, it is evaluated on several grounds for not addressing the concerns of the employees regarding lower wages (Albers et al. 2013). Therefore, the company should look into this matter and try to solve this problem as effectively as possible. On the other hand, as the company is planning to operate in China, it should also take into account the operability of its organizational structure and culture in accordance with the Chinese culture and mentality of the residents of the country (Griffin et al. 2016). In order to conclude, it can be said that the organizational culture and structure of Walmart is quite well for operating in Chinese framework. However, the company should try to develop a better understanding about the Chinese market structure and cultures and thereby adapt its organizational structure and culture accordingly. John Quincy Adams Essays (1590 words) - Adams Family,

John Quincy Adams John Quincy Adams was the only son of a president to become president. He had an impressive political background that began at the age of fourteen. He was an intelligent and industrious individual. He was a man of strong character and high principles. By all account, his presidency should have been a huge success, yet it wasn't. John Quincy Adams' presidency was frustrating and judged a failure because of the scandal, attached to his election, the pettiness of his political rivals, and his strong character. John Quincy Adams was born on July 1767, in Braintree Massachusetts. His parents were John and Abigail Adams. Quincy, had every advantage as a youngster. At the time of his birth, his father was an increasingly admired and prospering lawyer, and his mother Abigail Smith Adams, was the daughter of an esteemed minister, whose wife's family combined two prestigious and influential lines, the Nortons and the Quincys. Accompanying his father on diplomatic missions in Europe, young John Quincy Adams received a splendid education at private schools in Paris, Leiden, and Amsterdam, early developing his penchant for omnivorous reading. He was able to speak several languages. At the age of fourteen, he was asked to serve as secretary and translator to Francis Dana, the first US ambassador to Russia. Despite his age, young Adams was a valuable aid to the consul; he enjoyed Russia and the exposure to diplomatic circles. He later returned to the United States and attended Harvard. He graduated in two years and entered the law offices of Theophilus Parsons in Newburyport, Massachusetts. Passing the bar in 1790, he set up practice in Boston. In 1794 John began his long political career. George Washington appointed John Quincy Adams an Ambassador to the Netherlands. After his father was elected as the second president of the United States, he was reassigned to the post of minister to Prussia. He kept this post throughout his fathers' term of office. After his fathers defeat to Thomas Jefferson he returned home. In 1802 he was elected to the Massachusetts senate, which sent him to the U. S senate the following year. He was also appointed to the Supreme Court, a membership he declined. President James Madison then appointed him to minister to Russia in 1809. He continued to serve his country and gained a well-respected reputation. Adding to his reputation was his brilliant and tough-minded performance as chief American peace commissioner in the negotiations at Gent that ended the War of 1812 and his effectiveness as minister to Great Britain during the last two years of the Madison administration. He continued to distinguish himself by negotiating a treaty with Spain. The Adams-Onis Treaty with Spain, concluded with Spain on February 22, 1819. Provided for the transfer of East and West Florida to the United States and the establishment of a border between Spanish and US territory running from the Gulf of Mexico to the Rocky Mountains and along the forty -second parallel to the Pacific ocean. Historians regard the treaty as a brilliant act of diplomacy, and Adams himself called its conclusion the most important event of my life. Many historians give credit to Adams for his contributions to the Monroe Doctrine. Adams also was the mind behind the Monroe Doctrine, which warned that the United States would oppose any European interference in the internal affairs of an American nation or further European colonization of territory in the Western Hemisphere. There was no doubt that Adams was a deserving candidate for the presidential election of 1824. He had held high diplomatic positions and displayed both aptitude and ability. He wanted to be President, but although Adams was the most distinguished member of the Monroe Cabinet, his successes were somewhat neutralized by his lack of friends and organizational backing? He had also earned himself a reputation of being stubborn and unflexable. He had no problems speaking out against issues h e felt were unjust. He also spoke out against his own political party. The son of a leading Federalist Party, Adams proved to be anything but a slavish devotee to that political cause. When he thought the party was in the wrong, he stood ready to oppose it. In fact,
