Lone Polar Bears Journey Essay Example for Free
Lone Polar Bears Journey Essay Advertisement analysis: Nissan LEAF Polar Bear A Lone Polar Bears Journey Nissan exhibited a 100% electric drive car, Nissan LEAF, to Japan and the US in 2010. It is the first zero emission car in the world that is mass produced. Nissan gave it a very good name LEAF. Deliveries to individual customers began in the United States and Japan in December 2010, and immediately the associated environmental- friendly campaign started. It is hard to tell something new on a banal topic like environmental friendly, but Nissan presented it in a very beautiful way through a series of advertisements. This ad, narrated a story that a lone polar come thousands of miles just to hug and thank for the contribution to his life that the first Nissan Leaf user made. Media This ad was put in CBS after the sitcom TV series The big bang theory. As a comedy which is set on the background of scientific genius and has much academic vocabulary, its audience are mainly people who were educated. Thus relevantly they have conscientiousness and responsibility of society and environment. LEAF, as it realized zero emission, will have a large impact on this category of audience and is easier to get sympathy and support from them which will achieve for marketing effectiveness. Target LEAF s target consumer are people who have an income on or above average, or have a life style that is fashion, high-quality or green, or willing to help the environment. Psychological techniques The main technique in the ad is to get sympathy. There are a series of touching scene in the ad, such as the lonely silhouette of polar bear in the boundless icy see, its sheltering from the rain in the underpass, its playing with a butterfly and greeting a palm civet, and its silhouette gazing at the bustling city night. Through a humanized story Nissan impressed audience successfully and unconsciously influenced consumer of the products environmental friendly idea, thus made the audience accepted and pproved the product. Assessment This advertisement captured the right media and target consumer, very importantly it impressed audience, and thus the ad is practically successful. As for the advertisement content itself, I think its success is based on three aspects. First, its narration and shots get strong sympathy from audience which makes them easily accepted the products environmentally friendly idea. Secondly, this is an ad that is memorable; its not easy for consumers to forget it right after watching. Thirdly, this advertisement sets people thinking to maintain the interest. One issue I personally concerned as a shortage of this ad is, it emphasized on ââ¬Å"story rather than products. It didnt mention any introduction of the product and the only sound in the ad is the background music and the polar bears yowl. In this way consumers may remember the story but forget about the car. www.facebook.com/erniesautobody/posts/194360270588400 https://www.youtube.com/

Connecting Babylon Revisited, My Life, and the Life of F. Scott Fitzger
à à It is no wonder, that when students read literature, some are confused about the meaning of the story or poem, know little, if anything at all, about the author, and have trouble memorizing important points. This is not only because of the limited time allowed, but because the student fails to associate new knowledge with old knowledge. Making a personal connection is important whether the instructor recommends it or not. Attention should be given to both the technical points of the writing and the author's biography. Take, for example, F. Scott Fitzgerald's "Babylon Revisited." At first glance, the story wasn't that hard to understand, so it was a good opportunity to study a piece of 20th century American literature in a deeper way. à à "Babylon Revisited" is often credited for being one of Fitzgerald's greatest short stories. As Professor Jackson Bryer states on a web site interview, "[It combines] Fitzgerald's human themes of loss with a background of the social times in which they take place. ...Paris in the Twenties. ...[These aspects] give them a resonance (the personal story played within a larger picture) which many of Fitzgerald's other stories lack" (1). Bryer also feels that "FSF should be remembered and valued most for the 'how' of his fiction rather than the 'what' of it, namely his style is what makes him exceptional, not his subject matter. ...he does have the ability to capture feeling and emotion brilliantly as well. Gatsby's frustration, Charlie Wale's exasperation, ... these are palpably present to readers." à Composed in 1931 and published in 1935, "Babylon Revisited" is "the s... ... in Minnesota: His Homes and Haunts. How Human Influence Heredity In Mice Essay
Selective breeding is the process of breeding plants and animals for particular traits. Typically, strains that are selectively bred are domesticated, and the breeding is sometimes done by a professional breeder. Breaded animals are known as breeds, while breaded plants are known as varieties, cultigens, or cultivars. The cross of animalââ¬â¢s results in what is called a cross breed, and crossbred plants are called hybrids. A genetically modified organism (GMO) or genetically engineered organism (GEO) is an organism whose genetic material has been altered using genetic engineering techniques. These techniques, generally known as recombinant DNA technology, use DNA molecules from different sources, which are combined into one molecule to create a new set of genes. This DNA is then transferred into an organism, giving it modified or novel genes. The difference between selective breeding and genetically modified organisms is with selective breeding the animals are bred for certain re asons for their fur or eye color also they do it naturally with a professional breeder. But when you have genetically modified organisms they use technology to breed the animals or plants. From the reports I researched I have found out that mice originated in India and Southeast Asia. Many theories explain that Mice appeared on the earth 65 million years ago when dinosaurs still existed. The common ancestor to mice and humans was an inconspicuous rodent-like mammal that scurried along the surface of the earth. It had to be inconspicuous because the earth was ruled by enormous dinosaurs, many of whom would have eaten any small mammal that could be caught. It has been predicted that the existence of mice resulted in the formation of a thick cloud of dust that, lead to a scenario like a nuclear winter with the disappearance of all green life, and with that, all large animals that depended either directly on plants for survival or indirectly on the animals that ate the plants would die. At least a small number of our rodent-like ancestors were able to survive these long sunless winterââ¬Ës because of their small size which allowed them to get by eating seeds alone. When the sun finally returned, the seeds scattered on the ground sprung to life and the world became an extremely fertile place. In the absence of competition from the dinosaurs, the mice were able to become the dominant large animal group, and they created numerous species. Since there are such a wide variety of mice they use them for all sorts of things. Mice are sometimes breaded as laboratory mice so that they can be used for experiments. They use mice and not dogs to test out medicine for humans because like I stated earlier the similarities of mice and humans are so close that when you test the medicine on the mouse you know that if you tested the medicine on a human that they would have the same reaction. Thatââ¬â¢s why 65 million years ago the genes from a mouse mixed with genes from a human and created a rodent like mammal to roam the earth. Outdoor mice provide an essential food source for owls, hawks and other predatory birds and animals. They may also be important consumers of weeds and insects. Indoor mice are not beneficial indoors, but if there are cockroaches or other insects in infected buildings, mice are probably eating them. Eliminating mice may result in a rise in the buildingââ¬â¢s visible population of insect pests. The only disadvantages of mice are that the indoor mice are usually intruders to a familyââ¬â¢s garage or dark closet. This results in the poisoning or planning of mice traps that will kill the mice instantly. Some environmental concerns of selective breeding mice are the breeding could cause genetic problems which would make it easier for mice to get sick. With every type of selective breeding (which consists of linebreeding, outcrossing, and inbreeding) there are always safety concerns. If you breed them wrong the mother or the baby could die or get a genetic disease which could stop them from hearing, seeing, or walking. Selective breeding appears to violate miceââ¬â¢s rights, because selective breeding involves manipulating mice for humanââ¬â¢s ends as if the animals were nothing more than human property, rather than treating the animals as being value in themselves. Mice are worth more than a failed laboratory experiment in a dark dungeon they are magnificent creatures that deserve sunlight, food, water, shelter, and most importantly love.

Women During The Civil War - 2024 Words
In the 1860ââ¬â¢s, American society during the war was of two minds. To fully illustrate the discontent and anger felt for the war, analysis of the personal accounts of women during the Civil War will be introduced in this writing. The personal accounts include diary excerpts and letters, as well as an illustration produced at the time of the war. The wavering of unity on both the South and North due to the separation of family and the destruction of the United States and its individuals set the tone of what was deemed to be an insignificant war. The disengagement of the family unit and the destruction and hardships created due to the wartime circumstances led to discontent with the war, further leading it to be viewed in a negative light byâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦What began as a war to reunite the nation under one constitution and government, morphed into a fight for the abolishment of slavery. With the increased presence of pressure that came with the change in end goal o f the war, tensions rose and a nation that was already divided became more increasingly broken. After slightly over four years of fighting and tension, the Confederacy, under the leadership of General Robert E. Lee, surrendered to the Union, under the leadership of General Ulysses S. Grant in Virginia (Outline 8). Soon after the surrender of the Confederation, President Lincoln was assassinated and Vice President Andrew Johnson assumed position as the President of the United States (Outline 8). During the period of reconstruction following the end of the Civil War, the thirteenth amendment was ratified in 1865, abolishing the establishment of slavery in the United States (Outline 8). In the 1862 ââ¬Å"Excerpt from Diary of Margaret Junkin Prestonâ⬠, the Civil War is introduced as an unnecessary and unsupported war by many; more specifically, the women (Hollitz 312). The document was written by Margaret as a way of voicing her opinion of the war and the effects it has had on the South. Margaret is putting to words how she feels about her husband being absent from home, the likeliness that he will be absent for such a duration of time; til the war has ended, or the eternal absence as the
